City-Werbering Unna (city advertising ring) 

The City-Werbering Unna (CWU) was founded in 1986. It is an association of Unna’s businesses and service providers. The CWU is a non-partisan, non-denominational registered organization. The highest decision-making organ is the general meeting of its members that is held at least once per year to release the board and treasurer reports.

The City-Werbering Unna is a member of several associations and workgroups, e.g. of the Stadthalle Unna - Gesellschaft für Veranstaltung und Marketing mbH (event marketing), of the Arbeitskreis "Innenstadt" (inner city workgroup), and of the "Runder Tisch" (round table), which is a meeting of business people and politicians with the aim to develop innovative ideas for the city center of Unna and to implement these ideas congruently.

The City-Werbering Unna was founded in order to consolidate the power of local retailers, to start new projects, and most of all to provide retailers with more influence when decisions are made or events are planned in Unna. "Speaking with one voice" was and still is the motto. Acting together as one unit leads to significant advantages! This motto is just as true today as it was nearly 20 years ago when the CWU was founded.

The members of the City-Werbering Unna indeed have numerous advantages that can be counted in Euro and Cents: The board of the CWU has, for example, negotiated special prices for electricity and telecommunication services. Additionally, the City-Werbering provides an inexpensive way to present your business on the Internet.

The most important point of the CWU concept is the strengthening of the sense of a common bond! Single retailers and single service providers experience many difficulties maintaining their market position or dealing with various problems. The "CWU family”, however, can help. Many minds develop many new ideas. Sundays open for business would not have been possible witout the permanent "insistence” of the City-Werbering Unna, and many other local events that became a huge success thanks to the financial and non-material support of the CWU. The city’s marketing would be far less attractive and convicing without the support of the CWU, and maybe even unthinkable. During numerous events, the city administration and CWU stand "shoulder to shoulder” in order to make festivals a huge success and to create a dynamic and long-lasting external impact to attract new customers and to bind them to the shopping miles.

For nearly 20 years, the CWU has been creating an interesting and varied program that draws the young and old alike to the city center. Customers benefit from the City-Werbering Unna, too. They get a surprise "Sterntaler" or the "Unna-Thaler" (parking voucher), for example, or they can enjoy the medieval flair at the "Westfalenmark” where real "Furzlaibe" (onion bread) and "Schmachtlappen" (pastries) are on sale. Last but not least, the CWU ensures profitable "shopping fun in Unna” and that the city is talked about among external customers. "Raising the attractiveness” is a motto on the lips of many modern "decision-makers”, but has already been a program for the City-Werbering Unna for many years!
