Unna business location - always in motion
With nearly 66.000 inhabitants on approximately 88 square kilometers, Unna attracts more than 170,000 people. No other figures can prove the importance of Unna more impressively. Unna is located right at the point of intersection between the pulsating Ruhr area and the restful and calm Sauerland area. Medium-sized companies and a variety of cultural, sports, and educational facilities characterize the face of the town.
One of the most significant advantages of Unna is its fully developed infrastructure. Unna is the meeting point of several highways: the A1 Bremen-Cologne, A44 Dortmund-Kassel, and A2 Oberhausen-Hanover. Three airports can be reached confortably: Dortmund airport in just a few minutes by car, Münster/Osnabrück airport (110 kilometers), and the international airport in Düsseldorf (90 kilometers). The central station of Unna is an efficient connection point for the local public transport and terminal station of the suburban railyway network of the Ruhr area. IC- and ICE-trains (high-speed trains) can be reached via the nearby central stations of Hamm and Dortmund.
Unna is distinguished by its extensive economic diversity: wholesalers and retailers, transport and logistics companies, iron- and metal-working industries, mechanical and electrical engineering companies, crafts businesses, the chemical industry, and plastics-processing companies as well as numerous culture and media businesses all offer most of the jobs in our area. Approximately 23,000 people work in Unna, and many commuters come to work here every day.
Most companies are located in the commercial areas in the north, west, and east of the town. A sufficient number of fully developed commercial spaces with an optimum connection to the supra-regional traffic network are still available in the east of Unna, next to the Indu-Park at the old B1 federal road as well as in the commercial area Büddenberg.
